The Vietnam Veterans Chapter 126 20th Anniversary Party
May 20, 2003
Thirty years ago our Armed Forces departed Vietnam, taking with them the bittersweet memories of combat and camaraderie. More than 58,000 men and women made the ultimate sacrifice, and our five boroughs suffered an enormous impact of 1,741 men and women whose names now grace our Walk of Honor at the New York City Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza.
And yet, out of the ashes and battles left behind a new battle was launched to gain our rightful status. Thus, Vietnam Veterans of America, Manhattan Chapter #126, was founded by a diverse group of Vietnam veterans frustrated at the public apathy to their service. It adopted as its mission the appropriate recognition and ceremony of military service, assisting eligible veterans in obtaining veterans benefits, and service to our community. We had many outstanding leaders who have contributed to the successes we now celebrate, and they are honored to invite you to the:
