Indochina

After a two-month- long siege that rivets the attention of the world, the French base at Dien Bien Phu falls to Viet Minh forces, the nail in the coffin of French rule in Indochina. The next day, in Geneva, a conference on Indochina opens, co-chaired by Great Britain and the Soviet Union.
