President Kennedy Assassinated
President Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas in an attack that also wounds Texas Governor John Connally. Police soon capture Lee Harvey Oswald in a movie theater after he shoots a policeman. Within two hours of the attack, Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson is sworn in as the 36th President. Two days later, Oswald is fatally shot by nightclub owner Jack Ruby as he is being led from police headquarters.
