First man on the moon
Astronaut Neil Armstrong steps out of a lunar landing module to become the first man to walk on the moon. He and fellow astronaut Buzz Aldrin leave some lunar capsules, an American flag, and a commemorative plaque at the site of their landing. Two weeks later, the Mariner 7 passes near Mars and transmits extraordinary pictures of the Red Planet.
